Legislative Affairs
The President’s Office works with various city, state, and federal organizations to promote and protect the strategic interests of private higher education, in general, and Jacksonville University specifically. The President monitors issues sponsored by the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF) and assists in coordinating communication with ICUF and other appropriate agencies. This involves monitoring legislation, programs, funding opportunities and proposals in order to assess potential implications for the university. When the Legislature is in session, this site will include periodic updates about issues that directly affect the University. There will also be reports, position papers, and fact sheets provided on public policy issues from time to time. From time to time, the President calls upon the JU community to communicate with legislators and to advocate for strategically important issues such as the Florida Residence Access Grant. We have prepared the most recent contact information that we have for both Tallahassee and local offices. Information is also available at MyFlorida.com , on the Florida Senate site, on the Florida House site and on the City of Jacksonville site. Here are some other Internet resources to connect you to sites that can be used to monitor current issues and to make connections with legislators and other state and local governing bodies. |
